Invest Ottawa Visited N&M to Explore Collaboration in Silicon Photonics Sensing Industry

Taiwan Nano & Micro-Photonics Co. Ltd. recently welcomed a delegation from Invest Ottawa, Mr. Schaal, Vice President of Global Expansion, and Ms. Chen, Director of Business Development, the economic development agency of Ottawa, Canada. The two parties engaged in in-depth discussions about potential collaboration in North America, particularly in developing and expanding the photonics ecosystem in Canada.

The meeting focused on N&M’s strategic direction and technological advancements in silicon photonic sensing. Both sides explored various potential business models that could be implemented, along with opportunities for international partnerships, and investment prospects that could drive growth. N&M showcased its innovative silicon photonics platform for verious applications across healthcare, smart textiles, environmental monitoring, and automotive safety, demonstrating its ambition to expand global adoption of this emerging technology.

Ottawa has emerged as a key hub for Canada’s photonics innovation ecosystem, supported by resources such as the Canadian Photonics Fabrication Centre (CPFC). The region offers manufacturing, prototyping, and pilot production, alongside competitive tax incentives and lower operating costs, making it a strategic base for advancing technologies in semiconductors, optoelectronics, photonics, and quantum industries in North America.

N&M expressed its commitment to forging global partnerships to accelerate the commercialization and global deployment of silicon photonic sensing technologies.
