Taiwan N&M has been recognized as a member of the SEMI Silicon Photonics Industry Alliance (SiPhIA). The company joins a global community of stakeholders dedicated to advancing the development and commercialization of silicon photonics, aligning with the Alliance’s three recently formed Special Interest Groups (SIGs) working to shape the industry technology roadmap.
While silicon photonics has traditionally been associated with high-speed optical communications, N&M is pioneering a new area: silicon photonic sensing. The company is leveraging its proprietary multi-band light source and sensing platform to enable advanced applications in areas such as environmental monitoring, medical diagnostics, industrial safety and smart textiles.
“As a company with its roots in sensing innovation, we believe the true potential of silicon photonics extends far beyond data transmission,” said Rone Chiu, Chairman of N&M. “By pushing the limits of integrated photonics, we aim to help redefine its role in real-world sensing contexts.”
N&M's technologies are well supported by Taiwan's strong semiconductor ecosystem, including cutting-edge foundries, advanced packaging and precision testing services. This makes the company uniquely positioned to deliver cost-effective, high-performance and scalable photonic sensing solutions.
By participating in the SEMI SiPhIA and contributing to special interest groups, Taiwan N&M seeks to foster cross-industry collaboration and accelerate global adoption of next-generation sensing applications.
