Chairman of Taiwan Nano & Micro-Photonic (N&M), Rone recently attended the 40th Taiwan-Sweden Economic Cooperation Conference, organized by the Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association (CIECA). The conference focused on smart sustainable healthcare and the sustainable development of the semiconductor industry, attracting experts and business representatives from both Taiwan and Sweden for in-depth discussions. During the event, the two sides proposed actionable plans addressing smart healthcare, air quality improvement, and the green transformation of the semiconductor industry, laying a solid foundation for bilateral collaboration. Chairman Rone also engaged with visiting Swedish companies to explore potential areas of cooperation between Taiwan and Sweden.

At the Sustainable Healthcare Council, Chairman Rone embodied the spirit of a missionary, personally explaining to distinguished guests how silicon photonic sensing technology can address monitoring challenges in telehealth devices in the era of big health. For example, by detecting physiological gases, silicon photonic sensors hold the potential to identify early signs of diseases such as Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, and gastric cancer, offering revolutionary impacts in smart healthcare. This innovation, which grants AI robots a sense of smell, not only improves diagnostic accuracy but also facilitates the accessibility of these technologies through portable devices, enabling more individuals to benefit from advanced health monitoring solutions.
Chairman Rone also held in-depth discussions with Michael Salter from the Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE). The two explored potential collaborations in the fields of silicon-based Micro-Opto-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MOEMS) and Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs). As one of Sweden's most prominent research institutions, RISE has significant potential for collaboration with Taiwan’s semiconductor industry in sustainable environmental technologies. As Taiwan’s leading supplier of silicon photonic sensing technologies, N&M can provide a sensing technology platform to support such bilateral cooperation.

The Taiwan-Sweden Economic Cooperation Conference, now in its 40th year, continues to serve as an excellent platform for fostering exchanges and partnerships between enterprises from the two nations. Representing N&M, Chairman Rone stated, “We sincerely appreciate the Bureau of Foreign Trade and CIECA for facilitating this conference. Through consistent and stable exchanges, we’ve achieved deep technological collaboration between the two nations. Moving forward, N&M will continue to contribute by providing a comprehensive technology platform for AIoT and sensing solutions, promoting the application and development of silicon photonic technologies in the global market.”
Through its participation in this conference, N&M recognized Taiwan’s leading position in silicon photonic sensing technology on the global stage. Building on this foundation, Taiwan has the opportunity to spearhead the development of silicon photonic technologies and collaborate with international partners like Sweden to drive innovative applications in the field.
