Rone Qiu, Chairman of Taiwan Nano & Micro-Photonic (N&M), recently visited Kuang-Hwa Vocational High School and its smart greenhouse demonstration base, led by Feng Chia University Technology Association President Pan Wen-Hui. The visit focused on industry-academic collaboration, smart greenhouses, and fire safety engineering.

Principal Jia De-Qi emphasized the growing importance of vocational schools, particularly in partnerships with high-tech industries. She highlighted that "Kuang-Hwa offers a wide range of disciplines, such as mechanics, electronics, and drafting, with a focus on practical learning. For example, Smart greenhouse uses AI monitoring to respond in real time to crop health, allowing timely actions. By collaborating with high-tech companies like N&M, we can bridge the gap between education and industry, giving students access to cutting-edge technology.

In addition to the smart greenhouse, Kuang-Hwa Vocational High School also launched Taiwan's first fire safety engineering department, equipping students with skills in designing, installing, and maintaining fire safety systems. Chairman Rone remarked that Kuang-Hwa is a model vocational school, and combining their expertise with silicon photonic sensing technology will significantly enhance the digital capabilities of smart greenhouses and fire safety systems.

Rone elaborated, "Fire safety has always been a top priority for the public. Enhancing detection capabilities for thermal imaging, heat sources, carbon monoxide, smoke, and other harmful gases is crucial. We believe that combining Kuang-Hwa Vocational High School’s practical skills with N&M’s silicon photonic sensing technology will significantly improve environmental detection efficiency and reduce safety risks for firefighters." Taiwan Nano & Micro integrates various sensing technologies to provide strong support for the intelligent upgrade of fire safety equipment. It also offers Kuang-Hwa an advanced technology platform, enabling students to design more efficient and safer fire safety systems, further protecting firefighters in hazardous environments. Additionally, with the integration of AI and digital technology, N&M's sensing solutions play a vital role in fire prevention and rapid response. For example, through smoke detection and thermal imaging, fires can be quickly identified at the source, allowing immediate activation of fire suppression systems and preventing further damage.

This cooperation demonstrates N&M forward-looking layout in promoting industry-university cooperation. N&M has not only established a good cooperative relationship with the higher education system, but now also actively promotes cooperation with technical and vocational education. Rone concluded that, "Taiwan’s vocational education, especially schools like Kuang-Hwa, has strong practical expertise. Combining it with silicon photonic sensing will revolutionize the digitalization of fire safety systems. N&M will continue to innovate and collaborate to explore more applications that benefit society."
